Our Mission

The mission of the Cancer Center Community Crusaders is to provide financial and emotional support to members of the communities served by Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center and their families as they strive to obtain the best cancer care and treatment possible. Through our grassroots efforts, the organization raises funds which are distributed to our local families as needed for their care. Our group also allocates a portion of the funds it raises to support local and regional research efforts to end cancer. All funds raised stay right here in the community.

Events and Activities

Day_of_Celebration

Day of Celebration

Traditionally held on the first Saturday in June, our Annual Day of Celebration is our premier community event.  Our “Crews” gather for our Cupcake Challenge and compete for the coveted Cupcake Trophy, all while having fun and gathering to remember, support, and celebrate those in our community in their journey.  We have kids’ games, music, and speakers, as well as community vendors.  We also partner with the National Survivors Day to provide their picnic with a fun and respectful celebration for all those who have survived their diagnosis.

Cabin Fever Dance

Our Cabin Fever Dance is our way of shaking off the winter blues.  Traditionally held at the end of February, this dance gives the community an outlet to gather, enjoy great music and friends while dancing the night away.  Our basket raffle as well as “Crew” raffles continue our mission of supporting our local community members as they fight their fight.  This is the perfect ending to a long winter season.

Supporting the Community

Our community is who we are.  We take part in local parades and we were honored to have the 2019 Bennington Battle Day dedicated to us. Our trophy is proudly displayed in the Cancer Center window. Our Crew members continue to work tirelessly with tag sales, craft sales, raffles, pitch tournaments, dove sales, dinners, and holiday gift wrapping, to name a few of their efforts.  As Crusaders, we value all that our community is.

“Our community is so fortunate to have such a wonderful resource of generous people and their great effort to provide for those in need while living with Cancer and fighting the fight! Thank you, one and all.”
